Something for everyone at the New Oxford Library.

I see so many books and I don’t have much time to read, but I really enjoy talking with the member of The Reader’s Forum, an Adult Reader's group that on the 2nd Thursday of the month from 9:00AM -10:00 AM. We discuss the author and the book that is selected each month. The group also talks about other books we are currently reading or titles we want to add to next year’s booklist. Registration is required to receive a copy of the book selected each month. Books are provided by the library. The reading list is as follows:

March 8, 2012 What Matters Most by Luanne Rice

April 12, 2012 The Lake Shore by Sue Miller

May 10, 2012 The White by Deborah Larsen

June 14, 2012 The Liar’s Club by Mary Karr

Free computer classes are held at the library on the 2nd Thursday of the month at 1:00PM. The schedule is as follows: Mar. 8th- Cut, Copy and Paste. April 12th- Introduction to Windows. May 10th- Introduction to the Internet. Registration is required as space is limited.

Children are invited to come and read to a pet one-on-one! We have two times scheduled for children to read aloud to KPETS (Keystone Pet Enhanced Therapy Services). These dogs are trained and tested for safety, skills and a calm nature; they are not intimidating and allow children to read at their own pace. For some children reading aloud to dogs will increase enthusiasm for reading and help them develop reading skills. Donna, Wendi and their pets will be here to listen to children read during two programs.

Read Aloud to Therapy Animals is an after school program held on Mondays from 3:30PM-4:30PM on Feb. 27, Mar.5, 19, April 9, 23 and on May 7.

Books with KPETS is scheduled on Thursday evenings @ 6:30PM-7:30PM on Feb. 16, March 15, April 19.

Fiber Art Fantasy is an opportunity for you to learn to knit, or share your experience knitting with Mary Lou. The program is held at two different times every Monday. Adults meet Mondays from 10:30am through 12:00. Everyone, no matter your age, is welcome Monday evenings from 6:30pm-8:00pm. In the past, our knitters have made washcloths, scarves, cuffs, hats and socks. The library has free yarn to use.

Two storytimes are scheduled for Preschool and toddler aged children. Join Mary Ellen Berwager, retired reading teacher, for books and coloring sheets or a simple craft on Tuesday Mornings, 10:30AM and Thursday Mornings 11:00AM. No Registration is required. If you need to schedule a special visit or another time for storytime please call Wilma at 624-2182 and we will try to accommodate your request.
