     Dig Into Reading, our Summer Reading Club for the children is coming to a close. We will be contacting our Bonus prize winners in the next week or so. We registered over 90 children and Susan will be adding up the minutes they read. Readers are winners.
     I would like to thank the parents for the assistance with Crafts on Thursday morning Kindergarten Here I Come story times. We will continue our story times on Thursday mornings at 11:00 AM-12:00 Noon.  No registration required, just come in and join the other families for stories, handouts and time to talk with other parents.
     Thursday, August 15 at 6:30 PM- Join Meeko and Cullen and their KPETS friends for a program on Pet Care. Children, come and read to a pet one-on-one!  Reading aloud to dogs: Increases enthusiasm for reading, develops reading skills, teaches children how to interact with animals and promotes confidence. Children have been writing a log of the books they have read to our dogs. They receive a free book when they have read 12 books. This is the last special program for the KPETS this summer. We will be posting the fall schedule for the Monday After School Program and the Thursday evening program.
     Adults can register for Computer Classes at the library: Thursday, Sept. 12, register for a class on Publisher.  There is limited seating.  Call the library at 717-624-2182. You can also make an appointment for a class on Word, Email, Resume and Job searching and using the internet.
      Fiber Art Fantasy -Knitting with Mary Lou will resume in Sept. We will begin a NEW class on Thursday evenings from 6:00-7:00 PM for children ages 8 and older. Registration is required. Knitting supplies are available.

     The Adams County Library System-New Oxford Area Library- will be planning several special activities for the 30th Anniversary of the library. We opened the doors to the library, which is located in the New Oxford Borough building on October 3, 1983. We will have Curious George, an Open House, and The Friends of the New Oxford Area Library will be giving a gift to the library patrons. We will be posting a schedule of activities soon.
New Oxford Area Library is located at 122 N. Peter St. in New Oxford, PA.
Our hours of operation are:
Monday and Thursday, 2 PM-8 PM
Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, 11 AM-5 PM
Saturday, 10 AM-4 PM    Closed on Sunday.

August activities in the library


     Monday, August 5 is the last day for kids to record your minutes in the Summer Reading Club. If you can't get to the library you can call us with the minutes your child has read.
