Lifelong Learning at the New Oxford Area Library

Lifelong learning at the New Oxford Area Library

Looking for something to do while the weather is cold outside?  When it’s too cold to think about gardening or travelling?  Why not stop by the New Oxford Library and take part in one of the many activities we have available?
It’s the New Year, and that means it’s time to sign up for computer classes!  You can take time to learn Microsoft Word, Cut-copy and paste, How to Search the Internet, or Email.  Contact the librarian to register for a class on Monday mornings at 10:30.
You can also cuddle up and stay warm with a good book. Our Readers Forum Book Discussion Group is discussing Sugar Queen by Sarah Allen in March.  Call or stop by the library to get the book, read it as an EBOOK or listen to an audio book. We discuss the Author and then we have a casual conversation about the book. Have a cup of tea and share some conversation with us on the second Thursday of the month at 9:00AM.
Would you like to learn to knit or? Join our Fiber Art Fantasy knitting group. Mary Lou, a retired teacher and knitter for many years, really enjoys teaching and helping you to learn new stitches or help you to fix a mistake. The group has made washcloths, socks, gloves, scarves, cuffs, hats and sweaters.  Bring your project or use the supplies we have available. The schedule is: Monday Morning 10:30AM– 12Noon and Monday evening 6:30PM –7:30 for Adults.  Thursday Evening from 6:00PM—7:00PM is for Children ages 8-12.  Registration is required; please call the library at 717-624-2182.
During the month of February we will be talking about jobs and taking turns playing games and playing with clay in the “Kindergarten Here I Come” Storytime. Bring your preschool children on Thursday mornings at 11:00AM. No registration is necessary. Coloring sheets and simple crafts will be available.
