ForSight Vision Presents Eye Safety at the library



June 23rd starting at 10:30 am, the Eye Safety program will be for families with preschool age children and children in 1st through 3rd grades. For the preschool age children Leora will read a book on eye safety called “SEE WELL BUNNY” and she will also use a puppet and posters to emphasize what they should learn.  For the 1st trough 3 grade children, she will have a CD on Eye Safety called “TREASURE IN SIGHT” which stars a Pirate and two children. After these programs Leora will do some vision screenings on the children. Call 624-2182 to register.

What’s Happening at the New Oxford Area Library

Be sure to schedule your time for a Computer Class at the library. If you need to update your resume, set up your email account and apply for a job contact the librarian to schedule your class now.
We all like to talk about a book we have read. Join the Readers’ Forum- An Adult Reading Group meeting on the Second Thursday of the month at 9:00AM. We read a variety of books-fiction, nonfiction- discus the author and the book. It is a casual time to talk, share your opinion about the other books you are reading. Contact the library to receive the current title- we supply your book for you free.
ForSight Vision will be at the New Oxford Area Library on June 9th at 10 AM for a FREE program for adults.  Tony Heath will do a talk on diabetes for adults.  They will also set up a screening station for the adults and check their distance and near vision. If you wear glasses, you should be wearing them as they do testing with the glasses on.  ForSight Vision, believes that the prevention of visual impairments is a vital part of their overall mission.
This summer we will continue the “Kindergarten Here I Come” Storytime for Preschool children ages 3-5 years old on Thursday mornings from 11:00AM - 12Noon. We will have stories, handouts and activities from the “Kindergarten Here I Come” calendar.  The Office of Child Development and Early Learning has developed four calendars packed with fun activities that also help develop all the skills young children need to success.
Cool Off and READ  with KPETS-  this summer we will see the KPETS at the library on: Thursday June 19th at 6:30PM Pet Safety Program.  Thursday July 24th at 6:30PM kids will play Dog BINGO to receive FREE books as prizes.  Thursday August 14th at 6:30PM enjoy a Movie & READ to the dogs. *Wendi is a Therapy Dog Volunteer trained in Beginning Sign Language.
Fiber Art Fantasy – beautiful socks, sweaters, scarves, cuffs, baby blankets, washcloths and more. If you want to learn to knit or improve your knitting skills come in to the library on Monday morning at 10:30AM, Monday eve at 6:30PM or Thursday evening at 6:00PM. Our schedule for the Summer Activities at the library is available at the desk. Children in the Conewago Valley School District will have received their schedules in school.
