Something Old, Something new and something Green

December 3, 2015 |

Aging is a topic that anyone could benefit from learning about.  Two more titles that may be of interest are, “Reboot Your Brain: A Natural Approach to Fighting Memory Loss, Dementia, Alzheimer’s, Brain Aging and more” by Gary Null, PhD and “The Grace In Aging: Awaken as you grow older” by Kathleen Singh.
For our youngest patrons, check out the new time for our toddler’s storytime. Parents and caregivers may drop in for “Books and Blocks- reading and building with blocks” on Thursday Mornings from 10:30AM to 12Noon.
Get Caught Reading with KPETS  -Slow down from your busy holiday activities and shopping to bring the kids to read to our therapy dogs on Monday Dec 7 3:30PM and Thursday Dec 17 6:30PM. Meet Lucy our newest addition, she joins Casi for the Monday Afternoon scheduled visit. Sailor, Cullen, Gwendolyn and Meeko and Casi are here on Thursday evening as scheduled. Each dog has a special Trading card with a picture and information about them and are available for children who come to the library to read.
What has bells and whistles, a tunnel and a green passenger car? Kids of all ages will enjoy N scale John Deere Model train on display the week before Thanksgiving through middle of January during library hours. We have another model train on loan for display from Jim Dysart, Member of the Conewago Valley Model Railroad Club.  “G” Gauge 1:20th actual size. Check out the Model train books in the library to help you build your own model train layout.
Start your holiday traditions with a trip to see the various train displays at the New Oxford and Littlestown libraries. Visit the Conewago Valley Model Railroad Club, a train museum open on the weekends only. It has a very large train display (in a rail car) operated by the Conewago Valley Rail Club.  You can visit the Model Train Display at Harmony Ridge and the Health Care Center Gallery Lounge in Cross Keys Village - The Brethren Home Community in New Oxford and the Lincoln Train Museum in Gettysburg.
Mon/Thurs: 2 pm to 8 pm Tues/Wed/Fri: 11 am to 5 pm   Sat: 10 am to 4 pm
