Get Caught Reading this summer

Get Caught Reading this summer.
I didn’t know so many kids have Ereaders, Ipads and other devices to use for reading and playing games. I hope they start with a book this summer and then spend some time playing. If you are not a great reader or you need some inspiration, get together with some friends and read aloud a few pages and then let someone else read a few more.  You could start a book club and get extra copies of your titles at the library. “Check out” Ebooks, Audiobooks, E Magazines, BookFlix and books on our website-
I personally prefer a book in my hands but I have downloaded a book to my laptop and enjoy reading that way too. Single titles and series- what do you like to read? I am hoping to catch up with the latest Hillerman, Deaver and Preston books as well as reading the books listed in our two book discussion groups meeting at the library.  The Book Shelf- An adult reading group reading primarily mysteries meeting the first Thursday of every Month at 9:00AM and The Readers Forum- An Adult  discussion group reading fiction and nonfiction titles meeting on the second Thursday of the month at 9:00AM. Join us in a casual setting and learn about the author and discuss the book.
Be sure to sign up your children up for the Summer Reading program at the library. “GET READY, GET SET, READ” is the theme for this summer. Register your child at your library, receive a book bag and other information on activities at the library. Children need to read at least 120 minutes each week and report their time at the library to receive a weekly prize. – Pencils, notepads, erasers and FREE Books. There are two Book Discussions for adults at the New Oxford Area Library and you are welcome to join us for a casual discussion about the author and the title we have read. The library provides the books and audiobooks for these groups. Please see the librarian to receive your copy and the bookmark with the other titles we are reading.
Meeting the First Thursday of every month from 9:00am -10:00am is the “Book Shelf“ which reads mainly mystery titles. This group began in 2002 with a grant from the Pennsylvania Humanities Council. The members of this group pick the titles they read – cozies, thrillers, espionage, police and detectives or medical thrillers- and there is always great conversation.
